Curitiba established through Municipal Decree No. 798 of April 6, 2017, the "Managing Committee of the Building Resilient Cities Program". The Managing Committee of the Building Resilient Cities Program is a tool that will motivate the integration of public policies and actions, of the Municipality of Curitiba, in partnership with organized civil society, in the construction of a more resilient city.
These public policies and actions will be carried out through integrated Management, participatory and sustainable, as an efficient process for the construction of resilient cities and minimization of socio-environmental vulnerabilities, improving the quality of life and sustainable development of our city. This Committee focuses on the implementation of actions that contemplate the 10 steps for the construction of resilient cities, redefined in the Sendai Framework in 2015. The installation of this "Committee" will increase transparency and autonomy of integrated actions that elevate Curitiba to the level of resilient city, model for the other cities of the country; and even improve the quality of life, decrease socio-environmental vulnerability and create conditions for a sustainable development in benefit to the population of Curitiba.
