An act to provide for the protection of life, property and the environment in the event of an emergency and to establish emergency management arrangements and plans. Section 9(1)(a) gives the State Committee the power to institute and coordinate emergency management, including the preparation and review of the Tasmanian Emergency Management Plan. Sections 36, 37, and 38 deal with risk identification and assessment authorisation. Other sections dealing with disaster risk reduction governance and management include section 11(1)(b), section 16(1), section 22(1), section 26(a), section 32(4), section 33(1), section 34(1), and section 35(2).
This act repealed the Emergency Services Act 1976.
