Big river rising: Interactive exploration of flooding in the Philippines

Big River Rising, a new interactive web documentary produced by Christian Aid, was shot during the August 2012 monsoon deluge which flooded much of Metro Manila and affected more than 1.2 million people. It explores how poor communities, despite frequent flash flooding, are fighting for their livelihoods and safety with the help of science.

The interactive documentary features Dr Carlos Primo C David from the National institute of Geological Sciences, Professor Fernando Siringan from the Marine Science Institute; and Father Jett from the Manila Observatory, a Jesuit priest and a former member of the IPCC.

Christian Aid's scientific collaborations and disaster risk reduction work in the Philippines is partly funded by DFID.
