Capture key trends and areas of progress and challenges at all levels with regard to achieving the strategic goals of the HFA.

Developing benchmarks and indicators that monitor, evaluate and report on progress in implementation of disaster risk reduction measures have evident benefits at the local, national, regional and global level:

  • Identification of existing problems/ gaps and increasing their importance on the political agenda
  • Promoting solutions through new or strengthened policies, programmes, plans, capacities and resources
  • Developing systematic, comprehensive data and information management systems with regard to disaster reduction
  • Establishing generic standards for implementing disaster risk reduction actions at all levels

The online National HFA Monitor tool has been accessible by designated national authority/ HFA focal points since May 2008. The designated focal points will be assigned new access details from the UNDRR secretariat to initiate the progress review process for 2013-2015. National focal points are encouraged to involve multiple stakeholders in the progress review process.
