84% of world’s fastest growing cities face ‘extreme’ climate change risks

14 Nov 2018, Maplecroft

According to a new Verisk Maplecroft analysis, 84% of the world’s fastest growing cities are at risk of rising temperatures and worsening weather over the next 30 years. African and Asian cities comprise 95% of those at extreme risk, threatening their markets' capital flows and compounding fears that the world's poorest will pay the worst price for climate change.
