The development of awareness programs and education for disaster risk reduction are essential for the mobilization and participation of citizens in prevention strategies and risk mitigation in the municipality of Amadora.
In order to raise public awareness about the risks existing in the city is important to establish a schedule for ongoing awareness, in partnership with the various entities of the municipality.
The Amadora Resilient Campaign Team developed the Awareness and Information Programme for Disaster Risk Reduction in the municipality of Amadora, for the period 2013-2014.
The main objectives of this program are:
- Training local stakeholders in measures of self-protection and prevention;
- Organize workshops , seminars and conferences about disaster risk reduction , involving the whole community ;
- Participate in events and festivities organized by the council and partners Local Campaign;
- Built a culture of disaster risk reduction on shools, with thematic sessions and activities;
- Creation of school groups to develop games and activities in DRR;
The sessions proposed in this program will cover:
- Risks and disasters (local scale - the municipality of Amadora);
- Prevention and self-protection measures;
- Prevention, hygiene and safety at work;
- First aid kit and emergency first aid bag;
