Critical infrastructure

This guide will focus on experience and lessons learned in the promotion of resilience in new and existing critical infrastructure, including water, transportation and telecommunications, as well as health facilities. It will cover issues such as cost-benefit analysis, and will provide comments on existing practices by various professionals involved in critical infrastructure development, maintenance and upgrading.

  • Promoting resilient construction of buildings and infrastructure, and social aspects of infrastructure resilience is one of the global targets agreed by countries in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Government operations and business activities depend heavily on reliable public infrastructure and utilities, efficient urban systems an educated workforce and reliable public services
