Master of Disaster Management


The Post Graduate Masters Programme is designed mainly to share disaster related comprehensive knowledge to the graduates of different disciplines, GO and NGO professionals, academics and researchers. The objective of the programme is to create a cadre of trained person-power by developing skills and creative judgment in an individual for effective management of disaster related issues through a multidisciplinary approach. The degree to be awarded by the University of Dhaka will be named as MDM (Master of Disaster Management).

  • Total 64 credit hours with 12 modular units
  • An internship Programme with dissertation
  • English Medium of instruction
  • Class hours: 5.00 PM to 8.30 PM

Target audience

The Master of Disaster Management (MDM) is designed to provide advanced level teaching both to recent graduates and mid-career progessionals eager to update their skills or to acquire new ones. The programme aims to train young professionals willing to pursue a career in international or national (or non-governmental) agencies or in the world. The programme emphasizes on the disaster, environment, vulnerability and climate variability research skills that are essential, not only for further academic research, but also in practical disaster and vulnerability related work.

Geographical coverage



MDM in Disaster Management will be of 2 (two) years duration, divided into 4 {four) semesters. Each semester will be of 19 (nineteen) weeks: of which 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching, at least 1 (one) week break, and 3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examinations

Application procedure

Application form along with prospectus and information leaflet is available from the Centre on payment of fees determined by the CDVS. The filled-in application form should be submitted to the Office of the Centre within the date noticed in the press.
