This document presents GFDRR's approach, progress made and strategic direction towards adaptation support and disaster risk reduction. It illustrates some concrete examples of various types of projects: (i) economic vulnerability and disaster risk assessments in Malawi and Mozambique; (ii) building cyclone-resistant housing in Madagascar; (iii) disaster and climate risk reduction in the Pacific islands; (iv) climate resilient cities primer; (v) Central America Probabilistic Risk Assessment (CAPRA); (vi) catastrophe bond insurance platform in Mexico; (vii) disaster risk mitigation and adaptation program in Southeastern Europe; (viii) modernizing hydrometeorological services in Central Asia; (ix) North Africa adaptation action plans in Alexandria, Casablanca, and Tunis; (x) collaborating for integrated climate and disaster risk management in Djibouti; (xi) climate change and future flood risks in Bangladesh; and (xii) insuring farmers against climatic risks in Nepal.
