Mission
Mission is to raise awareness and understanding of earthquake hazards and earthquake risks in the central US among those having the authority and responsibility to make changes. Focus is on business and industry leadership, including insurance, finance, equity management, infrastructure, and related public sectors. Earthquake-resistant structural designs, earthquake-resistant site selection, and earthquake-resistant business decisions regarding portfolio exposures, market concentrations, supplier vulnerability, and related public and private policy decisions are part of the overall mission.
Disaster Reduction Goal
To show high-level decision-makers that earthquake-resistant designs (such as building codes), earthquake-resistant site selection, and earthquake-resistant business decisions are not only good for their business but also good for the local community as well as the region and country. Earthquake hazards in the central US (i.e. New Madrid fault zone) pose risk to markets, transportation, communication, energy supply, and other facets to the entire nation.
