Are governments prepared for climate change?

A new audit report on how adaptation policies are implemented at a national level across Europe was launched at 18th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Adaptation (COP 18), reported the Malta Independent. The report 'Adaptation to Climate Change – Are Governments Prepared?' was written by the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing with the cooperation of the national audit offices of Malta, Bulgaria, Austria, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, the Ukraine and the European Court of Auditors in addition to the State Audit Office of Hungary (in an observer capacity).

The audit investigated the following areas: (i) identification and quality of risk and vulnerability assessments, (ii) identification and quality of strategy, (iii) extent and function of coordination, (iv) implementation; and (v) results and impacts of actions taken.
