The International News reports on SEEDS Asia's ‘Reaching the Unreachable: Disaster Risk Reduction Education Project', that teaches life saving techniques to people living in cyclone, earthquake and flood affected areas - and transfers local knowledge.

Children, women and men who participated in the workshops learned vital skills such as how to make styrofoam boats. They also learned about safe building structures and climate change and each of them received emergency bags containing radios, flashlights, documents folders and booklets.

The idea came into being during the 2009 floods and it was soon felt that it could be transformed into a reality, according to the report.
