Italia, Venezia: Un convegno sulla riduzione dei rischi da disastri e calamità

Lunedì 19 marzo, con inizio alle ore 9.15, si terrà a Palazzo Ducale (Sala del Piovego), il convegno "Building Cities Resilience to Disasters: Protecting Cultural Heritage and Adapting to Climate Change", organizzato dal Comune di Venezia, in collaborazione con CoRiLa (Consorzio Ricerche Laguna), e da UNISDR (United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction), l'agenzia delle Nazioni Unite dedicata alla riduzione delle calamità.

Sulla base dell'esempio rappresentato dalla Città di Venezia, città modello di resilienza riconosciuta dalle Nazioni Unite, gli argomenti principali trattati durante il convegno saranno la protezione del patrimonio culturale e l'adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici.

La due giorni di discussioni (programma di seguito al comunicato), alla quale parteciperanno delegati di istituzioni europee e di organizzazioni internazionali, nonché ricercatori internazionali, sarà aperto alle ore 9.15 dal sindaco di Venezia, Giorgio Orsoni, che accoglierà la rappresentante speciale del Segretario Generale ONU per la riduzione delle calamità, Margareta Wählstrom, il capo dipartimento della Protezione Civile Italiana, Franco Gabrielli, il direttore del Centro euro-mediterraneo per i cambiamenti climatici, Antonio Navarra.

Nella mattinata il sindaco Orsoni verrà nominato da Margareta Wählstrom ambasciatore europeo della campagna "Making cities resilient" per la promozione e lo sviluppo della resilienza e della protezione dei beni culturali.

Subito dopo i saluti e le relazioni di apertura, alle ore 10.30, è previsto un briefing stampa.

A seguire, il direttore del CoRiLa, Pierpaolo Campostrini, presenterà una relazione riguardo l'esperienza di Venezia.
