Opinion: Number of climate refugees overstated

Associate Professor Jane McAdam from the University of NSW, Australia, contests recent claims by The Observer that extensive migration due to the impact of climate change will happen within the next century. McAdam is concerned is that an absence of rigorous analysis and empirical evidence to support claims may lead to a backlash and attempts to discredit the phenomenon of climate change-related human movement altogether.
