Christian Aid’s Humanitarian Division are looking for a Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer, with research and programme experience in international development, to join their dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the organisational policy and advocacy work related to humanitarian emergencies, resilience and disaster risk reduction.
You should have substantial experience in research, policy and advocacy in international development, in particular on humanitarian, sustainable livelihoods or related issues and be a confident and articulate communicator. You will have sound knowledge of disaster risk reduction, resilience and climate change debates, and first hand experience of working on humanitarian or development programmes, preferably with some at field level. You will be able to conduct primary research as well as manage research carried out in collaboration with academic institutions and development partners. You will be able to represent Christian Aid in relevant UK-based and international advocacy networks and turn research findings into clear programme advice and public policy recommendations.
You should have a relevant qualification in Humanitarian or Development Studies, or similar subject, and substantial experience of research for policy and advocacy. Additionally, you will require excellent verbal and written communication skills.
