Mozambique coastal city climate change adaptation program

Background

DAI is an employee-owned global development company. For 40 years, they have worked on the frontlines of international development, providing comprehensive development solutions to business, government and civil society in 150 developing and transitioning countries. Their clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and national governments.

DAI is seeking candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded program called Mozambique Coastal City Adaptation Project (CCAP) – a 5-year program aimed at increasing urban coastal resiliency to climate change by incorporating climate change into their planning processes and undertaking adaptive measures in response to capacity building activities, performance-based incentives and public advocacy in targeted municipalities in Mozambique.

They are seeking candidates for the following positions:

Chief of party 

• will provide technical direction and technical and administrative management of project implementation. Previous COP or Project Director on similar project required. Must have expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: coastal resource management; environmental or civil engineering, climate change adaptation or disaster risk reduction, institutional strengthening, financial and risk planning at the institution level. MBA or advanced degree in relevant field required.

Deputy chief of party/Senior technical expert

• will provide contractual and administrative management for a multi-national project team; and technical management for one or more of the following technical areas: coastal resource management; environmental or civil engineering, climate change adaptation or disaster risk reduction. Advanced degree in urban planning, natural resource management, or related field required.

Community engagement specialist

• will be tasked with designing, leading and organizing efforts to engage community participation in all phases of the program including design and implementation of awareness campaigns and facilitation of community decision-making.

Monitoring & evaluation specialist

• will be responsible for the daily monitoring and evaluation activities including maintenance of the PMP, baseline collection, performance data collection, data quality assessments, reviewing reporting from municipalities and institutions; and reporting to USAID.

• Candidates should have excellent English and Portuguese language skills, hold an advanced degree and have prior experience working with donor-funded programs, USAID preferred.

All positions are for submission in an upcoming proposal and are contingent upon successful award of funding.
