The American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Preparedness Programs Coordinator to join our team in the Seattle office.

As the Preparedness Programs Coordinator, you will responsible for the direct implementation of relevant disaster preparedness programs in support of the Chapter's strategic plan, vision statement and community expectations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Work as a team member on implementation and sustainability of preparedness programs within the Chapter's jurisdiction including presentation and support materials and scheduling, coordination and tracking of presentations

- Assist in expanding all programs by working with area community members, schools and non-profits providing relevant training to allow them to integrate disaster preparedness into their home and business life

- Utilize tools to enhance disaster education learning and encourage action within the community

- Develop and implement volunteer programs and/or volunteer retention programs within the Preparedness Department

- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on disaster preparedness and advise others as necessary regarding appropriate preparedness information

- Develop and maintain training curricula for preparedness utilizing advanced knowledge of the most up-to-date preparedness information available

- Provide support to the department managers in preparing CEO/Board members in their marketing efforts for the program

- Assist in effective training of volunteer presenters and NPRC members by conducting external preparedness presentations

- Proactively seek ways to effectively utilize volunteers and provide them with appropriate training, development and recognition

- Work effectively and cooperatively with relevant stakeholders, including Red Cross volunteer and paid staff, governmental and private agencies, families and the general public

- Cross-train in Community Disaster Education (CDE), Workplace Preparedness, Youth CDE and Basic Aid Training; assist where necessary in these areas

Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in emergency response, human services, communications, education or a related field

- Minimum of two years' experience coordinating volunteer and community training programs and schedules

- Minimum of one year experience training diverse groups in varied settings

- Demonstrated ability to motivate and supervise volunteers

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good public speaking skills

- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people

- Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher and Internet Explorer

- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize and consistently meet deadlines

- Proven ability to effectively cross-market organizational programs and services

- Knowledge of and ability to develop and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with community resources (government, social services and corporate)

- Positive and professional attitude and demeanor

- Valid Washington State Driver's License, clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
