The Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management is a signature event of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and its partners. The 10th Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management is being co-hosted by the Government of The Bahamas through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

This year’s conference will run from December 4th – 9th, 2017 at the Melia Nassau Beach All-Inclusive in The Bahamas and will be convened under the theme “CDM: The Road to Resilience Check Point 2017 - Building Resilience through Partnerships”.

What to expect

2017 will again be an exciting year for the conference. Utilising the checkpoint approach to monitoring the progress of the 2014-2024 CDM Strategy, participants will be presented with the Caribbean Assessment Report which will provide decision-makers with information related to progress, gaps and lessons learnt towards the achievement of CDM.

  • Highlight progress towards the achievement of CDM results within the priority areas of Institutional Strengthening, Knowledge Management, Sector Mainstreaming and Community Resilience
  • Showcase relevant research and applicable tools for the advancement of CDM in the region
  • Provide a forum for the engagement and empowerment of youth in supporting the DRM agenda
  • Strengthen DRM capabilities of CDM Stakeholders

The CDM10 programme will include inter-alia:

  • Ministerial High-level Session
  • Professional Development Sessions
  • Plenary Sessions – Highlights from the Caribbean Assessment Report
    • Institutional Strengthening (Outcome 1)
    • Knowledge Management (Outcome 2)
    • Sector Mainstreaming (Outcome 3)
