Job purpose:

To provide technical advice and support to the Consortium members (Afghan Aid, Action Aid, Concern, UNEP and Save the Children) and partners in the implementation of Afghanistan Resilience Consortium's "Strengthening the Resilience of Afghanistan's Vulnerable Communities against Disasters project (SRACAD)" funded by DFID and led by Afghanaid.

Main duties & responsibilities (including training role):

In close coordination with Project Coordinator (National), the DRR Advisor will have the following main duties and responsibilities (including training/capacity building role):

  • Technical assistance to the project
  • Liaison and coordination
  • DRR programme development
  • Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
  • Donor reporting
  • Capacity building of the concern project team, consortium members and partner NGOs/government staff
  • Networking

Person specification

Essential

Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:

Master’s Degree level qualification in Public Policy, Rural Development, Social and Economic Development, Anthropology, Disaster Risk Reduction, Social Sciences and Technical related to Disaster Management or relevant topics.

Special Skills, Aptitude or Personality Requirements:

  • Minimum five years relevant programme experience in the DRR/development context and minimum three years field experience with an NGO in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and resilience programmes
  • Proven work experience of direct experience of integrated programming.
  • Experience in monitoring & Evaluation systems and techniques
  • experience in designing and facilitating DRR and Resilience programmes, mentoring, facilitation and training
  • Proven ability in report writing, research and documentation and experience in proposal writing including Log Frames
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal.

Desirable

Knowledge of local language Dari (Farsi) is added advantage
