Background

WWF does more than simply save habitats and wildlife. They’re also working with government, industry and consumers to tackle one of one the biggest challenges facing the world today – climate change.

WWF's UK-based Climate Change Team is addressing the global threats to biodiversity and human development through “climate smart” adaptation responses – particularly in developing countries and the priority eco-regions where we work.

Joining the team in this vital new role, you’ll help to develop our understanding of how climate change impacts and risk can be minimised, and how resilience can be built, through strategic advice to our field projects and programmes.

It’s a role that will see you building relationships with environment and development NGOs, Government agencies, the scientific community and colleagues throughout the WWF network, to develop and share latest thinking on adaptation tools, methods and frameworks. You will be at the forefront of an emerging profession and will need to keep your fingers on the pulse of new scientific developments, emerging ideas on climate change and best practice in adaptation strategies.

WWF recognises that as this a new and demanding field it’s likely you’ll need to grow and develop into the role and for the right person we’ll ensure you’re supported to do just that. Key to your success will be your tenacious but diplomatic attitude to drive organisational change. Programme design and development skills, cultural sensitivity and the ability to travel and work well with people from different backgrounds and disciplines will be vital.
