Imphal, India: International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction observed

The Department of Relief & Disaster Management, Govt of Manipur, India celebrated the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction on October 10, reports Imphal Press. This year's theme was “Women and Girls: The Invisible Force for Resilience."

Addl Director General of Police LM Khoute IPS emphasized that "education plays an important role in spreading awareness on natural disaster management." He added that "Women and girls should not be treated as poor victims but as active victims. Women are powerful agents of change and they contribute a lot during natural calamities."
