Climate change poses risks to food, beyond US drought

Experts warn that governments should take into account how climate change induced heatwaves, droughts and floods could affect food security, reports Reuters.
"It has not been properly recognized yet that we are dealing with a food system here. There is a whole chain that is also going to be affected by climate change," Professor Dr John Porter of the University of Copenhagen said.
Climate change will negatively affect conditions of grain storage as well. Professor Porter said that now crops are produced for people, biofuels and feed for animals, often raised for their meat. He added: "In my view we can have two out of those three and not all three.
A shift towards more vegetarian diets would help."
