Sierra Leone Red Cross launches disaster management policy

Awoko reports that The Sierra Leone Red Cross (SLRC) has launched their Disaster Management Policy at the closing of the West Africa Disaster Management Capacity Building (WADMCB) project. The Policy will enhance disaster preparedness and response capacities in the African country. It will target total risk management and reducing vulnerability by educating the public and raising awareness. Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Tommy, Secretary General of SLRC praised the West Africa Disaster Management Capacity Building (WADMCB) project for its gender focus and said that "lots of achievements were made with the programme leading to the development of contingency plans for flood, etc."
