Background

Established in 1888, Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB) is a German aid and welfare organization with 16 branches at federal state and more than 300 branches at regional, district and municipal level. More than 1.1 million members provide a broad social basis for our activities. More than 20.000 employees and over 17.000 volunteers form part of ASB and ensure a high level of quality in areas such as civil protection, rescue and social services. ASB acts as a politically and denominationally independent association and already in 1921, with the implementation of its first international mission, foreign aid became an integral part of our organization. ASB implements its foreign aid activities in Asia, Eastern Europe, Central America and Africa. ASB has already been active in Georgia between 1992 and 1997 and reopened its office late 2010, focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction, Livelihood and the set-up of local structures to ensure Social Services for the most vulnerable.

ASB developed project "Inclusive DRR education targeting at Kindergartens" together with Kindergarten Agency Municipality of Tbilisi and in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The project has an Emergency Preparedness component targeting at children with and without special needs as well as a Kindergarten Emergency Preparedness component and is targeting at 20 kindergartens in Tbilisi.

ASB is currently seeking expression of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the position of Disaster Risk Reduction Project Trainer of Trainers.

Duration: 3 months with extension probability.
Start-date: April 2012.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively
• Solid understanding of the Georgian educational/pre-school sector
• Understanding of national, regional and international DRR strategies and policies
• Experience in working with people with special needs
• Coaching and team building skills are essential
• Reliability, strong organizational and time management skills
• Willingness and ability to learn and develop further
• Analytical aptitude and attention to details
• Team player and aptitude to work as a member of a multicultural team
• Good documentation and reporting skills.

Requirements


• Fluency in English
• Degree in relevant discipline
• Computer literacy, including MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
