Duties and responsibilities:

Under supervision of UNICEF Deputy Representative and in close collaboration with UNICEF National Programme Officers, the Project Officer will contribute to coordination and implementation of UNICEF-East Kazakhstan Oblast joint Programme and will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

- Contributes towards the implementation of the project activities in accordance with the MoU, Plan of Actions and Project Document signed between UNICEF, other UN Agencies and East Kazakhstan Oblast, including Child-Friendly Cities Initiative, Program related to Raising Competitiveness of the Region, Disaster Risk Reduction program and 5 Steps Strategy between UNICEF and the Akimat of the Eastern-Kazakhstan oblast.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly, intermediate and annual programme status reports required for management and donors, in the development and/or introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project management and evaluation.
- In consultation with respective UNICEF Program Officers provides routine monitoring of activities related to the implementation of project components in EKO for which UNICEF is accountable ensuring their timely and quality implementation according to UNICEF Rules and Standard Procedures.
- Establishes and maintains technical contacts with other UNICEF Programme Staff and colleagues from other UN Agencies and provides information to concerned parties on progress, problems, required changes and proposes corrective actions to rectify project’s implementation for the consideration of the UNICEF Program Officers.
- Submits quarterly reports on the programme implementation, reflecting achievements made, challenges and solutions.
- Develops programme and financial periodic reports.
- Performs other activities as per request of the management.

Competencies:


- Proven good knowledge on child rights, current political and social trends and social reform processes in Kazakhstan.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work within the international and multicultural environment.
- Good knowledge of computer applications.

Requires skills and experience:


- Education in social sector, health, international relations, and/or other education related to the project’s goals;
- Knowledge and practical experience in project management cycle;
- Two years of relevant professional work experience in project administration, monitoring and evaluation. International work experience is an asset;
- Analytical skills and ability to fulfill administrative, logistical etc. project support;
- Ability to work and plan independently;
- Very good knowledge of English and Russian languages (speaking and writing) is necessary, knowledge of Kazakh language is an advantage.
