Purpose of position

- To provide leadership on key business decisions, programming issues, control environment and stewardship responsibilities as well as strategy development, integration, and implementation of processes within the sectors of economic development, agriculture and food security, disaster risk reduction, food programming and natural environment and climate issues programming across the World Vision Partnership.
- To drive strategy, policy and practice in these sectors and grow capacity and expertise across the organization resulting in greater contribution to the well-being of children and communities.
- To provide line management and administrative oversight to the various sectors within the cluster, and communicate with WVPO senior management regarding operations, staffing and overall management of the cluster.

Key responsibilities

1. Community resilience & disaster risk reduction

- Provide strategic leadership for the integration of community resilience & disaster risk reduction in WV programmes throughout the partnership.
- Promote the implementation of sustainable disaster risk reduction strategies to ensure resilient communities, able to withstand the shocks of disaster events.
- Position WVI as a competent and professional agency active in this field, with an enhanced reputation in the international aid community.

2. Economic development

- Ensure the promotion and integration of economic development with other sectors across WV partnership.
- Provide leadership and support in the implementation of fund-raising unit.
- Ensure that operating plans, budgets, projects, work teams and various sector activities are well managed.
- Ensure effective knowledge management, learning and continuous improvement of economic development practise through the community of practise.

3. Agriculture & food security

- Managing & coordinating of the technical expertise across the organisation.
- Ensure effective knowledge management and continuous improvement of agriculture and food programming across World Vision.
- Lead the development and implementation of WV advocacy strategy related to food security to influence policies and practices.
- Ensure effective integration of agriculture with other priority sectors within WV.

4. Food programming & management group

- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to all WV food aid and monetization programs worldwide, ensuring compliance with WV standards and LEAP alignment.
- Manage the external relationships with key stakeholders and food aid donors regarding food aid availability.

5. Agriculture & food security


- Managing & coordinating of the technical expertise across the organisation.
- Promote food related research and ensure effective knowledge management and continuous improvement of food programming across World Vision, including the development and implementation of food aid tools.

6. Natural environment and climate issues

- Pro actively develop, implement, manage, and communicate natural environment and climate issues strategies both internally and externally to World Vision for the partnership, widening the organization on all levels.
- Identify and obtain the necessary resources for the partnership’s natural environment and climate issues responses which include internal and external partners, technical resources, and funding of programmes.
- Develop and oversee partnership polices which guide and direct ministry responses to natural environment climate change issues.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Required

- Master or Bachelor degree or any relevant degree or significant expertise and proven record through a combination of formal schooling, self education, prior experience and on the job training.
- 30 - 35 years experience working with food security and livelihood's, at all levels to include hands on experience in food programming and management, program design, project management, leadership development, public relations, donor engagement and senior management oversight.
- Direct experience with and through working knowledge of food security and livelihood's legislation and regulations of major donors including the United States, Canada, the EU, Australia, and beyond.
- A good knowledge of economic development, disaster risk reduction and climate change issues.

Prefered

- Administrative and HR knowledge: Possess an understanding of the HR and administration functions within an organizational setting to be able to strategically advice on allocation of resources (both tangible and intangible).
