Arab States regional launch of the 'Making Cities Resilient: My city is getting ready' campaign

The campaign will officially be launched in the Arab region by Ms. Margareta Wahlström, Special Representative for the Secretary-General on Disaster Risk Reduction, in the margins of the General Assembly of the Arab Towns Organization.

City representatives from the campaign participating cities Aleppo (Syria), Amman (Jordan) and Tripoli (Lebanon) together with UNHABITAT Kuwait will discuss the relevance of the campaign for making their cities more resilient.

Ms. Wahlström will name H.E. Tamer Al-Hajjeh, Syrian Minister of Local Administration, the newest Campaign Champion, and he is expected to promote the campaign along with other champions from Japan, Philippines, and Thailand.

Arab Towns Organization will sign a Campaign Partnership Agreement, and will be a key partner organization for UNISDR to implement the campaing in the Arab region.
