The theme of Expo 2010 is 'Better City, Better Life,' representing the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future urban environments.

World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is the occasion for China to bring the world at home, and for the world to feel at home in China. By dedicating a 5.28-square-kilometre area at the core of the city to exhibitions, events and forums on the Expo theme, "Better City, Better Life," Shanghai hopes to build a powerful and lasting pilot example of sustainable and harmonious urban living.

The first world exposition on the theme of city, Exposition 2010 is hoped to attract governments and people from across the world, and is focusing on the theme of 'Better City, Better Life.' For the duration of its 184 days, participants will display urban civilisation to the full extent, exchange their experiences of urban development, disseminate advanced notions on cities and explore new approaches to human habitat, lifestyle and working conditions in the new century. They will learn how to create an eco-friendly society and maintain the sustainable development of human beings.
