This is the 4th out of 6 modules in the Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDM) training course that will be held in Colombo and conducted in English

This module focuses on developing a CBDRM plan using a participatory process.

Course Content

- Introduction to the CBRM planning
- Introduction to Community Based Participatory Planning techniques
- Shared community visioning: obstacles / risk analysis
- Developing strategic action plan
- Actor / stakeholder analysis

Course outcomes

At the end of this module, participants will:
- Understand the context, importance and application of participatory practices in developing a CBDRM plan
- Understand and apply the participatory tools and techniques used in community based planning (VOSA technique)
- Discuss types of CBDRM planning and the relationship with development planning
- Draft a simple community action plan for DRM
