Community participatory approaches in CBDRM
This is the 2nd out of 6 modules in the Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDM) training course
Module 2 aims at developing practical skills among the learners on the applications of participatory tools and techniques used throughout the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) cycle. The tools and techniques introduced in this module can be applied to carry out community based disaster risk assessment, risk management planning, designing local initiatives and participatory M&E.

Course outcomes
At the end of this module participants will:
- Understand the context in which CBDRM initiatives are to be implemented, including; social, political, economic, ecological and cultural (SPEEC) aspects of community
- Understand the concepts of Community Participatory Approaches (CPA), its importance, applications and challenges while practicing CPA in DRM
- Understand and apply the selected participatory tools and techniques used throughout the disaster management cycle
