Celebration of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction - Kazakhstan

Every year on the 13 October, regions and countries around the world celebrate the United Nations International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR).
The theme of IDDR 2017 is "Home, Safe home", with the aim to reduce exposure to disaster impacts in order to avoid displacement, loss or damage to housing stock and workplaces.
The Kazakhstan celebrations will take place on the 6 October, with introductory remarks from a number of experts in the field of disaster risk reduction.
The day will address themes relevant for Kazakhstan, including:
- Provision of security of Almaty city from natural and man-made disasters
- Disaster risk reduction for an with children
- Spring 2017 floods
- Global environment and emergencies forum
