Introduction to Disaster Resilience Education for Schools, 2nd National DRANZSEN Forum

Organizer(s) Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience
Venue
Sydney International Convention Centre
Date

The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) promotes the development of disaster resilience education as a vital component in children and young people’s education. The National Strategy for Disaster Resilience 2011 stresses that this type of knowledge is included in education programs in schools. The Disaster Resilient Australia-New Zealand School Education Network (DRANZSEN) is an AIDR national initiative, encouraging and strengthening the ability of teachers and other educators to deliver consistent disaster resilience education to young people.

This 2nd National Forum offers a unique chance for educators, researchers and fire and emergency management practitioners to meet and learn about disaster resilience education practices, be informed about current research, and share each other’s knowledge and expertise. It also enables participants to identify potential opportunities for working together to implement quality disaster resilience education in their own localities.
