World Symposium on Climate Change Policies and Governance 2017

This symposium will be held 12-14 September 2017 in Hamburg, Germany. As an interdisciplinary event, it will mobilize scholars, social movements and members of governmental agencies, involved in the preparation and/or implementation of climate change policies, undertaking research and/or executing projects on climate change policy and governance, round the world.

The World Symposium on Climate Change Policies and Governance will focus on ensuring progress in mitigation and adaptation performance. It will serve the purpose of showcasing experiences from policy-making, research, field projects and best practice to foster climate change adaptation policy and governance, which may be useful or implemented elsewhere.

Objectives

  • To provide government agencies, research institutions, universities, NGOs  and enterprises from both industrialised and developing countries with an opportunity to  display and present their works in the field of climate change policy and governance; 
  • To foster the exchange of information, ideas and experiences acquired in the design, planning and execution of climate change policies and governance initiatives and projects, especially successful initiatives and good practice which may be replicable elsewhere, opening opportunities for institutional learning;
  • To discuss methodological approaches and experiences deriving from case studies and projects, which aim to show how climate change adaptation policy and governance may be implemented in practice;
  • To network the participants, so that they can explore possibilities for cooperation.

An early-bird conference fee of £ 290 will be charged to delegates who register until 20th July 2017. Afterwards, the full fee of £ 350 will apply.

The fee includes lunches and coffee breaks on day 2 and day 3, as well as the evening reception on day 2.

This is a self-funded event and the organisers are unable to pay any travel or accommodation costs of any kind. They are however happy to issue letters of invitation to support delegates to request funding for their participation.
