About:

The UN Economic Commission for Europe's (UNECE) Committee on Housing and Land Management (CHLM) will hold its 76th session to review its work and discuss issues involving housing, land management and urban development, including standards for energy efficiency in housing, smart cities, and implementation of the Strategy for Sustainable Housing and Land Management in the ECE Region for the Period 2014-2020.

The meeting will bring together high-level representatives of governments and stakeholders from the UNECE region in a conference on Smart Cities, where examples of Smart City concepts and planning tools will be presented. The session will then agree on a set of Smart City Indicators for the ECE region.

The meeting will further discuss steps towards the implementation of the Geneva UN Charter on Sustainable Housing and the Committee’s Strategy for Sustainable Housing and Land Management in the ECE region for 2014-2020; discuss the Committee’s work programme 2014-2015 and national policies on housing, urban development and land management. The session will also agree on the Committee’s input into the global Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development – HABITAT III.
