Extreme weather preparedness
Extremely high or low temperatures, excessive rain, hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards all impact conditions at water and wastewater treatment plants and can dramatically affect operations.
With the Northeast experiencing many of these extreme weather events in recent years, it is of vital importance to maintaining public health and safety that personnel at water and wastewater facilities understand what it takes to continue to provide treatment in severe weather conditions and to respond appropriately when treatment capability is lost.
This training will provide operators with the latest information from WARN (Water/Wastewater Emergency Response Network) and FEMA. The instructors will discuss the care of emergency generators and present case studies from a wastewater treatment plant, drinking water plant, and small wastewater package plant that reveal the lessons learned from recent extreme weather events.
