The main theme of the 2011 World Cities Scientific Development Forum (WCSDF) will be to highlight development and cooperation among world cities, in promoting sustainable socio-economic development and livable human habitation, with a focus on the following thematic topics:

- Urban Planning and Design for Disaster Resilient Cities
- Disaster and Emergency Management Cities
- Urban Economic Transition and Sustainable Development
- Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation for Sustainable City development

The forum is organized by: the Municipal Government of Chengdu; the Provincial Government of Sichuan; the World Cities Scientific Development Alliance (WCSDA);
the Sister Cities International (SCI), the United World Chinese Association, and the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.
