Overview course on disaster risk reduction, response and recovery
In order to increase the quality of capacity development projects, the SRSA has, in close cooperation with ISDR, OCHA and UNDP, developed an overview course on disaster risk reduction, response and recovery. The course is to be used as a learning tool for capacity development projects, to train field personnel involved in these projects and to spread general awareness of a holistic approach to disaster risk reduction, response and recovery to other SRSA personnel and national and international partners.
The initial course was given in Sweden the 31 Oct - 9 Nov 2007 with 24 participants from six different countries, who all are professionals involved in disaster risk reduction, response and/or recovery. In addition to an increased knowledge the participants emphasised networking and a constructive atmosphere as the most positive experiences about the course. The course will also be given in 2008.
