  • Type: Meeting or Conference
  • Date: 23-26 Nov 2009
  • Location: South Africa (Cape Town)
  • Venue: International Convention Centre
  • Language: English

Description

The conference hopes to cover all aspects of emergency medicine emergency care from pre-hospital practitioners to nurses and emergency care doctors. The emphasis throughout will be on best practices for a resource poor setting, whether this is in the developing world or in hostile environments.

Following EMSSA's initial international conference (held in October 2007 in Cape Town), this conference offers an opportunity for international experts to help shape the way that the speciality develops in developing world settings. Workshops will be presented on ultrasound in the emergency department, difficult airway, ECG masterclass, hospital disaster planning, mass gathering risk assessment and emergency radiology. These will run as pre-conference workshops on 23 November 2009 with the main conference following from 24 to 26 November 2009.

In addition, there will also be an opportunity for delegates to participate in the Adopt-a-Delegate project . This initiative will provide financial assistance toward the cost of attending the conference for delegates from the developing world, by peers from the developed world. The long term aim is to form international partnerships and encourage responsibility. Please visit our Adopt-a-Delegate project page for information on joining up.
