Background
The annual Cross Border Workshop is designed to address emerging public health threats, including pandemic influenza preparedness and tracking infectious disease. The theme for the 2012 workshop is “Seismic Events: Health Impacts, Consequences and Preparedness” where the emphasis is on cross border collaboration and cooperative approaches. The theme was selected to acknowledge that all Alliance jurisdictions have the potential to be impacted by an earthquake, tsunami or volcanic eruption. The workshop will provide an opportunity for regional public and private health sector entities and other government agencies to discover, discuss and develop effective border health plans and programs.
Discussion themes
• Post Disaster Food Security: Are We Ready?
• Federal Medical Resource Support for a Natural Disaster
