Consulting as an advisory activity has steadily gained prominence in every sphere of life. Disaster Management is one of the important areas, where Consultants have to develop effective strategies and systems for disaster prevention, mitigation, response and recovery. Keeping in view the importance of Consulting interventions in the area of Disaster Management Department of Scientific and Industrial research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has sponsored Consultancy Development Centre for domestic and International Training progrmmes on “Consultancy Needs and Services in Disaster Management” with particular reference to countries – Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, Vietnam and Pakistan including India. The training programme held in Bangkok, Thailand, will be focused on flood disasters.

The Programme would benefit decision-makers in the government hierarchy as much as the industries and corporate who have suffered huge damages in the past. The participation would include Senior & Middle Level officials representatives from:
• Government Organizations
• R&D institutions
• Academic institutions
• Consultancy organizations
• Industry and industry associations
• Organizations/ NGOs working in the area of Disaster Management
