This DVD produced by Hobby Work for the Italian series "Alla scoperta del pianeta Terra" comprises 13 programmes. Among those, 2 documentaries explain the following phenomena and the conditions necessary for their generation: hurricanes (storms, monsoons and tornadoes) focusing on Porto Rico island and Texas, and the devastation they cause on the environment and the biodiversity. "Inferno" (Hell). Anello di fuoco relates that centuries ago, spaniards discovered a mountain in Guatemala which they called Rich Mount as it was rich in minerals, especially plate. In the mid-20th century, researchers came to understand that the Earth crust was generated by volcanic strata. The Pacific Ring of Fire is an area of frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions encircling the basin of the Pacific Ocean. In a 40,000km horseshoe shape, it is associated with a nearly continuous series of oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs, and volcanic belts and/or plate movements. The Ring of Fire has 452 volcanoes and is home to over 50% of the world's active and dormant volcanoes. Ninety percent of the world's earthquakes and 81% of the world's largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is a direct result and consequence of plate tectonics and the movement and collisions of crustal plates. The famous and very active san Andreas Fault zone of California is a transform fault which offsets a portion of the East Pacific Rise under southwestern United states and Mexico. Hell recognizes that fire is as necessary as water to the Earth. However, it describes the impact of wildfires on the flora and fauna, whether in Africa, in Australia, in the United states or in the Caribbean. (UNEsCO)
