This booklet presents the Italian civil protection national service, with its central and peripheral state administrations, regions, provinces, municipalities, national and territorial public agencies, and its main activities in terms of emergencies, prevision, prevention. It also lists the various risks Italy is exposed to in almost every area, which alone justifies the necessity to avail of a civil protection system (human resources, equipment, operative and decision-making capabilities) ready to intervene in a very short time in each area in case of disasters, but also to prevent and, as far as possible, predict disasters.
