This book aims to take stock of the knowledge of recent legal acts voted by the French Parliament in the field of risks and environmental protection. The introduction gives a definition of hazards, vulnerability, risks, and cindynology, the new science whose development should contribute to forecasting and better managing for future generations the risks which affect the Earth and its inhabitants. It addresses risks related to internal and external geodynamics, and possible structural and other preventive, forecasting and response measures. It recommends promoting a sustainable co-development based on the consideration of evaluated, and clearly stated risks, and on the implementation of coherent risk management measures. (UNEsCO)
