This disaster awareness poster, of interest to the general public and the school community, provides clear key messages to understand the main hazards and learn about the appropriate disaster preparedness and response behaviors. Five hazards are illustrated: cyclone, tsunami, earthquake, flood and volcano.

This poster has been elaborated by a project called “Together, Becoming Resilient!” funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department and the French Red Cross. This disaster preparedness project is part of the Vanuatu Red Cross Society disaster programs to promote resilience of vulnerable communities in the country. Fourteen communities were benefited from this project throughout the Banks and Torres Group (Torba province).

The language used is the Bishlama, a creole language, the most broadly spoken language in Vanuatu.
