Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (SEADPRI-UKM) was established to carry out research and provide advice in disaster related fields, especially in Southeast Asian region. This is done by providing a new technological platform for cross-, multi-, and inter-disciplinary research in understanding and solving problems about disaster. Research conducted in SEADPRI contributes to the development of a new system and technology to deepen knowledge about processes related disaster.
The objectives of SEADPRI are:
- To become a research centre focuses on climatic, geological, and technological hazards at the national level and in the Asian region
- To become a multidisciplinary research centre in disaster management especially in the contexts of disaster, governance and prevention as well as post- disaster response
- To develop skilled human capital in disaster issues for the government and private sectors through graduate programmes, especially in science and technology, social and governance aspects in disaster
- To become the reference centre on disaster science and governance in disaster Southeast Asia
Presently SEADPRI offers graduate research program in Masters and PhD levels which involves studies relating to disaster in the following areas:

- Technological Hazards

Curriculum Structure
Masters and PhD candidates:
• Research and thesis only
• All candidates are required to attend SFTH6014 Research Methodology course
Language Requirement
All international candidates: TOEFL (minimum score of 500) or IELTS (minimum band 5)
- Master in areas of relevance from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or other universities accredited by the Senate
OR
- Presently following master programme in related field in UKM and approved by the Graduate Management Committee to change the status to Doctor of Philosophy programme with the approval of the UKM Senate's
