This monthly newsletter highlights UNISDR activities around the world. This issue reports on: (i) the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction (GAR13), which will focus on private sector and disaster risk; (ii) the conclusion of the 4th Africa Regional Platform; (iii) the expected crowd at the fourth session of the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction; (iv) the 'Inside Story', an Aljazeera English program, which discussed the economic implications of disatsres in Asia with UNISDR Chief, Margareta Wahlström; (v) the impact of poor urban governance in the Philippines; (vi) Colombia moving ahead on the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA); (vii) the links between climate change and community conflict; (viii) the development of the most comprehensive risk profile database in Africa; (ix) the launch of UNISDR private sector initiative in Africa; (x) North Africa's first national review of the HFA held by Algeria; (xi) the empowering of a women as disaster manager in Iran; and (xii) the risk roadmap of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States (GCC).
