This issue reports on the activities undertaken by UNDP Uzbekistan during the disaster risk reduction week, on the occasion of the International Day of Disaster Reduction (IDDR): (i) a learning hour for UNDP and project personnel working for different UNDP projects; (ii) the UN Friday with university students in collaboration with UNIC on a theme of disaster risk reduction (DRR); (iii) an essay competition awarding ceremony; (iv) an exhibition on DRR theme; (v) a roundtable discussion on earthquake safe construction practices of private houses; (vi) a simulation exercise on earthquake response preparedness among UN agencies in collaboration with UNOCHA Regional Office in Almaty, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations; and (vii) a media Briefing for journalists at the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
