The report looks at Christian Aid’s own experience of working with local partners in disaster risk reduction (DRR), preparedness, emergency response and recovery. It draws on direct experience of partnership approaches to emergency work and its challenges, with examples from a range of emergency contexts, including India, the Philippines, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Malawi and Burma, and a detailed case study on Haiti. The report then builds on Christian Aid’s experience of influencing progressive thinking on DRR and resilience and supporting local and national advocacy on disaster prevention and response to ask what these lessons mean for the wider humanitarian sector.
