Building resilience to climate change through farmer-managed natural regeneration in Niger and land rehabilitation in Burkina Faso

This case study examines adaptation measures that have been implemented in the Sahel region to combat drought and global climate change, such as farmer-managed natural regeneration. It demonstrates how in Burkina Faso efforts have been implemented to rehabilitate barren crusted land to increase the volume of water available to crops. Furthermore, it demonstrates how similar measures have improved the rural landscape in the Sahel, which has enabled hundreds of thousands of households in poverty to diversify their sources of livelihoods and increase their incomes, thereby strengthening their resilience and addressing chronic hunger.
