Queensland recovery and reconstruction in the aftermath of the 2010/2011 flood: events and cyclone Yasi


This report provides detailed information on early and long-term recovery needs and priorities, e.g. through building resilience thanks to disaster risk reduction strategies and policies. This document uses the example of the state of Queensland which suffered from devastating flood towards the end of 2010 and in the early months of 2011 resulting from a series of heavy rains, followed by a category five cyclone Yasi. It also covers the physical impacts of a disaster, economic value of the damages and losses and human impacts as experienced by affected populations.
